Hello! My name is Becky Sackman. Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you find the content meaningful and uplifting.
I am no one special, except in God’s eyes…just a small-town girl trying to do my best in this earthly life.
My faith journey began from a young age. My mother would read to me from a children’s bible, and I remember going to Vacation Bible School at a local church. However, I did not begin attending church regularly until I was around 8 years old. I had four paternal great-aunts who were great women of God, serving in different capacities at a local church. My Aunt Jane invited me to church with my cousins, and so began my love of Christ. I’ll be forever grateful to her.
My mom and siblings began coming to church with me shortly afterwards. I attended the same church throughout my youth. I had a profession of faith and was baptized. However, during my teenage years, I began to fall away from God. I allowed too many other activities to take precedence in my life, including sports, a job, and other teenage pursuits.
It wasn’t until my early 20’s that I truly began seeking God again. I started dating a man who would later become my husband. I was at a revival one night where my future father-in-law was preaching, and I felt the Holy Spirit leading me up the aisle. After examining my heart, I realized that while I thought I was saved as a child, I really hadn’t been. There was never a real-life change in me until that moment. I was again baptized as a profession of my faith and have since tried to be more obedient to the Lord. My walk with God has not been perfect by any means, but it has been real. I struggle daily, but I hope to continue growing closer to the Lord every day, as I take on the roles He’s called me to.
Not only am I a new blogger, but I fill many other roles as well.
I am a wife and mother to three amazing kids. They keep me busy but are such a blessing to me. I am also a nurse practitioner and enjoy promoting opportunities for better health and wellness to others. Additionally, I believe it is important to be a good citizen and give back to one’s community. Therefore, I am a 4-H volunteer, serve on the Board of Education for my local school district, and try to volunteer in other ways when I can. I also enjoy activities with my church family. I love being outside enjoying God’s beautiful creations. I like to hike, kayak, play sports, and travel to new places with my family.
Most importantly, I am a born-again Christian woman. However, I am also a daily sinner. While I strive to be more like Jesus every day and grow closer to God through the fulfillment of His calling in my life, it can be very trying at times, especially when the world is in opposition to this.
It is a daily struggle to live as Christ directs us to, at least for me, due to all the temptations surrounding us. Because of this, I feel it is so important for Christian women to encourage and support one another. Oftentimes, I feel there is so much societal pressure on us because we fill so many roles and historically have had numerous challenges to overcome.
I am proud to be a woman, and although I am undeserving, I am even more grateful to be a woman saved by the blood of Christ. Luckily, God’s love is greater than anything, and He promises salvation to those who seek it and ask for it.
I hope this blog will provide you with the promise that although we often struggle and fail in life, we are not defined by our faults. It is my prayer, through this blog, we will grow in our faith in Christ and become better servants for Him.
I will end with sharing one of my favorite verses from the Bible.
“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” -John 15: 13
Remember, Jesus died for you. He loves you unconditionally and is the greatest friend you could ever have.
